Once upon a time, something wonderful was about to happen!!
the village rainbow gift shop was founded and born with the belief that colour can uplift and recharge in the beautiful village of Alrewas in 2011.
The villagers were pleased with their new shop and said 'it's quirky, retro and most definitely different'. They all cheered as the ribbon was cut and were greeted by the shop mascot Roly the tortoise.
Julie the shopkeeper believed in making a difference. With her belief, passion, hard work and the support of loved ones, the villagers and her dedicated team, she extended her range to homemade local ice cream, a coffee stop, one-off pieces of furniture, a sweet shop and an online presence to the world...
the village rainbow story continues, with lots of farewells, tears and excitement as the beautiful shop in Alrewas became too small. And so it closed and moved to a brand new home in the fabulous town of Ashbourne. Much bigger and brighter, the town welcomed the village rainbow on the main high street with opened arms. Sitting opposite Ryman, the stationers – up the hill to fat face, the clothes store – down the road to the famous Costa Coffee and amongst many independents like herself – the shopkeeper realised she had fullfilled a dream she never imagined – just by doing what she loved, being herself and never giving up.
the village rainbow is now settled into its new home and enjoys watching the joy and smiles it continues to bring...
